Consequently, we want the final and concrete product of this year’s project to be a collection of texts, adapted to the levels of linguistic competence, which will become a useful working tool, suitable to supplement the aridity and the exaggerated complexity of the Romanian textbooks.

Romanian language – from “state language” to communication language in ATU Gagauzia, Rep. Moldavia

Project funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Policy Department for Relations with Romanians Abroad, from June to December 2015

Project code: U1-1 / 584 / 24.06.2015

A new stage in the strategic partnership of cross-border cooperation with the Republic of Moldova involving the “Dunarea de Jos” University in Galati – the Romanian language project – from the “state language” to the communication language in ATU Gagauzia, Rep . Moldova.

Through the Romanian language project – from “state language” to communication language in ATU Gagauzia, Rep. Moldova, “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati proposes the establishment of pilot classes with teaching in Romanian according to didactic strategies based on the principles of active learning in representative school units in the three districts of the Gagauzia Territorial Autonomous Unit – UTAG (Comrat, Ceadir-Lunga and Vulcanesti, based on the collaboration protocol with the Education Department of UTAG). The project addresses first of all Romanian language teachers from schools in the UTAG territory and, implicitly, pupils in classes with Romanian language teaching or who have in the curriculum educational or cultural-educational activities that take place in Romanian. The framework plan of the actions that the project envisages aims to encourage the use of the Romanian language as a communication language (current) both in the so-called didactic communication and outside this environment, respectively in the public and private space. An important component of the project is didactic, formative, given the training of specialists and their familiarization with modern, effective methods of teaching and learning the Romanian language of non-matrimonial language to help them in their work by optimizing the transfer of knowledge to pupils and increasing their interest in the use of the Romanian language in communication to performance parameters. Therefore, without being a barrier (but rather a good language learning environment), multilingualism in the UTAG (with the three “official” languages - Gagauz, Romanian and Russian, where they can possibly, as languages in use, Bulgarian and Ukrainian) will, in the long run, be gained by assuming the Romanian language as a factor of cohesion and integration into society, thereby naturally doing without damaging the rights to the other ethno-cultural groups, the necessary leap of the Romanian language from its status as a “state language” (recognized by the Constitution of Republic of Moldova) to the current language of communication. It is also to be ignored that this project of encouraging the use of Romanian language in UTAG contributes to the protection of the linguistic and cultural identity of the Romanian minority in this autonomous region by creating in the long term a linguistic environment favorable to the assertion of this identity, the other ethnic and linguistic components coexisting.
